Naemeka Onyegbuna

Naemeka Onyegbuna’s ‘Provenance’ is a collection of designs for contract and domestic interiors aimed at the inspired by the West African wax batik.

Research into this area highlighted historical and cultural influences through European trade merchants, highlighting a lack of authentic provenance. The collection builds a narrative of origin and culture, alongside a symbolic style of creativity, resulting in a range of designs for fabrics, wallpapers, and ceramics which reflect these historical references.

A combination of traditional print processes were also used, alongside specialist digital textile software, screen printing, and digital dye sublimation. Emeka also provides bespoke artworks in the form of lino prints and framed copper repoussé.

Naemeka is currently studying for a Masters (Specialist Title) via Creative Practice at the University of Greater Manchester.
